“After listening to my friend, Police Captain Kathryn Garcia, about Base One Security’s Services, I know she’s correct about one thing – their emergency response is probably the fastest in the entire country. It also amazes me they can cover so much within such a short time frame. They are extremely well-trained in all areas of their operations, and they’re truly concerned about the security and safety of their clients. If you live in Brooklyn and have ever wondered if there is an organization like Base on Security in Brooklyn with a better chance of assisting you in case of an attack, then definitely you’ll want to check them out!”

“I recently had an opportunity to visit the borough park in my community after work. My daughter and I were walking to the playground when a Hispanic male told us to go to a certain store. We asked him why and he said, “You shouldn’t be here. The police will be here shortly and they’ll be bribing people to leave.” This poor man had obviously seen a cop and was nervous about being caught by the cops.

These incidents reminded me of an episode from the New York Times where Orthodox Jewish businessmen were apparently bribing cops with free food and drinks for their attendance at a seminar. How dare these cops serve their duty of protecting the city and yet succumb to corruption? Two orthodox businessmen were sentenced to jail because of this infidelity. Brooklyn Deputy Chief of Detectives Johnworldly Smith and Detective Frank Nane were assigned to investigate the incident.

Smith and Nane went to the site shortly after it happened and reported their findings. According to the Brooklyn Daily Herald, “On an early December morning, detectives Nane and Smith were back at the Parkchester Square motel. ‘The agents observed a Hispanic male, later identified as 25-year-old Juan Francisco Lopez, selling cocaine and an unidentified female clerk under his influence. The seller had already purchased a large quantity of cocaine from a wholesale dealer, according to the affidavit. Smith and Nane observed the man and woman give the clerk a large sum of money, which the seller quickly handed to one of them, who gave the drugs to the clerk as a birthday present.”

The Detectives were not looking for a cop that got help from a crooked cop to get guns and drugs, but they were checking out the role of two Orthodox Jews who owned a drug store on Park Avenue in Brooklyn. They allegedly bought the gun license from a man named Mendy Katz, who had previously been convicted of beating an unarmed robber to death. According to the Daily Herald,” Katz told detectives he didn’t know what was in the gun. He said he had given the license to Mendy Katz, who lives in a small apartment on the East Side in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, but that Katz is not his real name.”

After interviewing several of the Orthodox Jewish drug dealers, the Detectives were able to bust a ring of corrupt cops. The arrests included three Brooklyn cops, two sergeants and one detective, all of whom face multiple felony charges of official misconduct, conspiracy, bribery and official state secrets leaks. One of the suspects is believed to have gotten help from Detectives Lincoln tunnel and Tuesday unsealed corruption. The other two arrests are still being made and will be arraigned soon.

The investigation into the alleged bribes and the arrest of two alleged crooked cops comes at a time when the New York State Attorneys General, Elliot Spitzer and Deirdre Meeks are attempting to reign in the amount of corruption within the New York City Police Department. This week Meeks unsealed evidence against five New York cops involved in arresting two men for allegedly brandishing deadly weapons and narcotics in a public place. Lincoln tunnel is also investigating whether Detectives Peterage and Russo committed any crimes related to the deaths of six unarmed civilians who were shot by police in separate incidents last year. Both of the officers have been suspended without pay while the investigations continue. Detectives assigned to the Brooklyn borough of Brooklyn are currently assigned to other areas because of the fallout of the Brooklyn arrests.
